![]() ![]() ![]() OK, on the TMI thing: Suppose he sees that this is $200 and thinks "Hey, I could get this other set for $130", so he looks up some reviews on the $130 set and everything's good, but then he finds that it's 22mm and thinks "Oh no, a 22mm bottom bracket won't fit my frame". ![]() And then all he would need to know is that the style that fits his frame is commonly called an American bottom bracket. Maybe with a sprocket to, at least some of the ones in the link had a sprocket. For those Flights it's a 19mm spindle so it's a 19mm American BB. Wow thank you! So basically it's American bottom bracket and that's I all should need to know? Sorry to be a pest I really want to get it right! I can't wait to get my RL20ii going and hopefully roll it to a bike meet locally here in the Bay Area. All of the old bikes and all of the great work these folks have put into them is amazing. I've been stuck on it for hours now looking at all of the cool stuff. And all of the other stuff as much Redline as I can find.Īny help is appreciated. I rocked GT's and my last bike as a kid was a PK Ripper, but I always came back to Redline.įor the build, I want to stick with period correct Redline Forks (need to purchase), period correct Handlebars (have some old Redline bars, but I want Forklifters), Redline Flight Cranks (don't need to be old school), bear claw pedals, DK Neck (picked one of those up the other day). As far as being period correct, I'm not stuck on it for everything, but I do (as much as possible) want to stay period correct. It's not about the money for me, I want to ride this thing until I can't anymore. This is definitely crusty, but I think it's salvageable. I'll jump on the pics tonight and get them posted. SMAX - Thank you for the quick reply sir! Very much appreciated. I appreciated any assistance and look forward to being part of this fun old school BMX community. Same as #1, if there is a specification that anyone has, sharing would be much appreciated.ģ) Crankset - Is the new american standard sealed bearings going to fit this old school? Or do I need to track down an old school non-sealed bearing set?Īgain, sorry if all of the above is sitting on the site, been reading for hours and there is so much on this site, you tend to get sidetracked with all of the cool stuff. I've been searching for RL20ii forks, but it seems like every time they hit the market, they get swooped up. It seems like they need an extra 1/2 inch of tube length. BTW - I'm not going to be picky about the headset, I have plenty of other parts to find "old school"Ģ) Forks are not the normal/Standard head tube length either. I've been searching, but cannot find a specification. I went down to grab a new one today and the bike shop didn't have one and they couldn't event find one online. I have a few questions about the headset, forks, and crankset:ġ) The headset is not a normal/standard BMX. ![]() I'm assuming it's a late 80's RL20ii and I want to bring this thing back to life. I'm old (35) and I've had an RL20ii stowed away in my garage for the past 23 or so years. This is awesome and it's really got my blood going for my rest. Been browsing the site, what a great collection of information for BMX's. ![]()
